Now this is a great looking watch.

Can you confirm yellow gold and not a rose/pink gold case?

Black dial was used in this early Bulova Sea King model.

It sure looks rose gold to me.   Definitely a Commodore case.  I don't recall seeing a black dial version although it is certainly a variant possibility.   Wouldn't the serial number beginning with 4 date this one to 1944?

Beautiful watch. No doubt the case is Commodore and a stand alone design. I have never seen one with a black dial. as Jim said, it may be a variant, or possibly a refinished dial.

Based on the unique case, I have no problem with 

1944 (by s/n) Commodore

Muito obrigado "neetstuf-4-u" pelo seu comentário. Quando este "Comodoro" foi desmontado para limpeza e lubrificação, o mostrador não deu indicações de ter sido reformado.
