This one was my Saturday morning project today. I think it turned out pretty good. I'm pretty sure it's a "Cadet" model, but I didn't see an example of a 1942 on here.

1945 Bulova Cadet "D"

Inside case back reads: Bulova | 10K RGP Bezel | stainless back | New York

Yellow gold case/bezel with engraving surrounding the crystal. Dial has golden hands and 1 - 12 gilt numerals ( 1944 Cadet ad states black for both ). Sub-second hand surrounded by ten-second numbers.

Movement is a 15 Jewel 10BC with a Triangle symbol.

Expansion band is 1/20 10KT GF Tops by Foster; looks similar to the band in the ad - possibly the original.

Guessing this could be a Cambridge, but far from sure.

The crown is not stamped. Inside the backplate, it says "Bulova, 10K rolled gold plate bezel, sterling base, stainless back, New York".  Someone has also scratched some numbers/letters, which might read "11848-69-62, CV16V, Sep 10-49", but also might not.

This maybe the nicest example of the Cadet model I've seen.  Someone must have kept this thing in a sock drawer or it's a very recent refurb.

Additional Information:

The BULOVA "CADET," Circa 1944. Hereafter are two watches that both appear to be "Cadets?" However the '44 varietal has the plain bezel design... Whereas the '48 version sports engraving!

Assuming these watches are both authentic... I then suspect that the 1948 watch is therefore NOT the military "pledge..." but rather another model... sporting the same proven dial design, engraving and a new powerplant, released perhaps in 1948... following the successful reintroduction of the manly sounding "Bruce" model (after the war) in either December of '45 or 46? (My Bruce ad is dated 1946? So > either <or??)

Furthermore... there are at least two other "civilian" sounding models, that take the same crystals, aside from the seven jewel "Walton," from 1948. They are the "MAXIM," and the "RODERICK." I therefore believe the latter 1948 watch pictured, is one of those two models???

BEST :-)  Scott

After seeing the 1944 Montgomery Ward ad listed on this site, I've decided to change the model from Aviator to Cadet. This is the most conclusive proof I've seen as to which model this is. Thanks to Jerin for providing the ad and Stephen for posting it.  NOTE: The dial on this watch has been refinished and the numbers on the sub dial were left off by the refinishing CO. This seems to have added to the confusion as to the model of the watch.      Confirmed with 1944 Montgomery Ward ad
