Additional Information:

My uncle gave me this watch when I was 13 years old.  It was his first watch that he bought when he was 16 brand new.  It was in better condition when I got it but over the years and being young and dumb has caused it to become distressed.  Now at age 40, I have found it once more and would like to get it restored (I would never sell this, ever) because it was a gift from a mentor.  In my area I'm having problems finding anyone who will even look at it let alone fix it.  Only one place in the Atlanta area has agreed to look at it but they are asking 750 to 1600 usd (and that's if it's in good condition, bad condition might exceed that) and it would take a minium of 8 to 10 months (yes months).

There are many online Bulova and Accutron repair shops in the US, but there's just no way for me to know if they're legit.  My biggest fear is sending it off to the wrong shop, them butchering it by removing the original movement, or sending it back semi working with gumball machine watch guts inside.  I'm hoping I can find some advice and direction as to how I can bring this watch back to life if at all possible.

I would give more information on the watch, but I don't know how to open this sucker up! haha

Here is what I have so far:

1970 Bulova Chronograph (not the deep sea, just the standard without the numbered bezel or whatever it's called)

It does work, but won't keep accurate time.  The stopwatch hand won't stop spinning and the stopwatch reset and start/stop button won't work.  It also has no crystal in front.

Numbers on back are: 604310  and N0

That's all I have at the moment.  Thanks in advance!

Just purchased. Photo's are via the website of the seller, as their camera has better focus than mine.

Bulova Chronograph. 2 register, similar to versions from the 30's and 40's.

On the movement:

"17JEWELS UNSADUSTED"

"Bulova Watch Co. Swiss"

I've included the best shot of the movement symbol I can find. Valjoux movement? Or possibly Omega?

Inside case back:

"BULOVA WATCH Co

SWISS

196022"

Rectangular pushers, case back is bare. Has the larger sub registers found on these style chronographs, rather than the smaller. Not sure about the second hand.

I inherited this watch from an old friend, but don't have any details from the "insides" to post here. My old friend thinks he bought the watch in Hong Kong - possibly - in the late 60's/early 70's. It's been as refurbished as it can be and runs very well with all the hands and push-buttons in working order.

After buying it off the forum and restoring it (it needed a TON of work), it is an unbelievable, rare, and classic piece of Bulova history. Other than the speck on the chrono bridge, this piece is impeccible for its age. I have plenty of high resolution images available for those interested.

Additional Information:

1972 Bulova Chronograph "F", New Old Stock. This watches all stainless steel case measures 44mm across (less crown) and 43mm top to bottom. Movement is 14EFAD and is unique in that the winding stem is on the "9" side of the dial. It also winds toward the wearer, as opposed to away. Date window is found in "6" position, there is no seconds hand complication other than the red chrono hand, which runs only when activated . Small chrono dial on right measures minutes, dial on the left measures hours. Hang tag identifies watch as model 31007 Chronograph "F". Original clam shell box is included. What I find fascinating about the chronograph feature is that the 'speed' markings go down past 60 to 50 MPH (or KPH) while other chronos of the era stop at 60 and begin at either 1000 M/KPH or 700 M/KPH.

I've been stalking this model for years, one finally came to me NOS!! Might be giving my Chronograph "C" a run for coolest Bulova in the collection.
