Additional Information:

Here is a Bulova Ordnance Department watch dating 1944. The OF on the serial number dictates that it is a 15 to 17 jewel wrist watch (waterproof case) this case back matches the description of the case and movement. Often you see the wrong caseback serial code to movement but this one is fine. There is slight discolouration neat 1 & 2 on the dial bur everything else is crisp. The hands have been relumed . The case is in mint condition with gasket and anti magnetic cover. I can't say if case has been replated but is mint. I change the nato style strap for a mint 1940s pig skin quick release band made by Streamline.

I know this is one of the A11 produced by Bulova the question which I doubt we'll find out is the watch is issued to Army Air Force 1942 but movement is 1945 so is it a 45 watch with a replacement backplate or a 42 watch with replacement movement? It also has the dreaded second hand stutter but I have read this is common because it is a modified 10Ak movement so because it is indirect drive you get this stutter because of play in extra gear train. Watch keeps great time.

Recently received as a gift from a fellow collector.  He knows that Bulova is my special interest.

I can not seem to find a photo of a dial such as this, except on the Hamilton version.

Note: 24 Hour indice

Note: Recessed Sub dial

It Looks like a cross between the "Night Warden" and a Military ORD...

Have you folks seen another like this?  I'd appreciate any input...

Alan

I believe this to be a Bulova ORD Dept watch.  Although the case back has been ground smooth, when you look at the inside of the case back at the right angle to the light, you can see the "ORD DEPT" and "USA" as a very faint reverse stamping.

This watch belonged to my father, who died in 1996.  He usually just referred to it as "his army watch" that he had during WWII.  He was company commander (Captain), Company C, 116th Infantry, 1st Battalion, 29th Division and landed on Omaha Beach (as Exec. Officer), participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and the push into Germany.

Members of myBulova helped me identify it as a 1944 Military modek, 10 AK movement, type OF.  It looks very much like the 1943 Military Issue, Type AK on the website, BUT the hands are differrent.

Many thanks to myBulova for helping me with the identification
