Geoff,

17J manual wind with sub chapter named 'SQUADRON' (with 'A' - 'L' variants so far!) in the early 60's.

Geoff the one on the right is a 1964 Surf King GW.  Bulova designers finally produced a watch that matches the 1964 ad.

Wayne - Doubt this is a Surf King - The seconds hand is not recessed on the Surf King, mine is. The four year difference is a problem as well I think. There are remarkable similarities, I'm just not sure it's a match. I just love the 12 on this one.......I keep looking to ID this one.

Wayne,

They all match the ads.

Geoff,

The tag says 21 Jewels, can You confirm that?

Mark - popped the back off today - she's a 17 J, imagine my surprise. Still is brand spanking, sparkling new in there though, just gorgeous!!

hmmm... a little more investigation needed I think. Interesting to confirm the jewel count.

Fifth - what matches what ad? The watch posted here does not match the ad Wayne posted - the sub chapter is not recessed in the ad and the dial says "Waterproof" in the ad but not on the watch. There is a four year difference between the date of the watch and the date of the ad. Similar, yes, the same no. I will confirm the jewell count as soon as I can.

I'm with Geoff here, the lugs also, look different. They don't seem to be tapered as much as Wayne's ad shown. Nice find Geoff. Hard to find a package that complete.

"Fifth - what matches what ad?"

Geoff,

Bulova Watches match their ads.

It had been past practice to ID a Watch on 'close enough', the newer higher resolution ads are proving that wrong.

Got it Mark - for a minute I thought you were implying that THIS watch matched THOSE ads.......whew, was reaching for my glasses when the clarification came through. Felt the slope getting slippery there for a moment!
