Bulova Quartz Lifetime Mainspring

I'm watching an online estate auction.  One lot is for a watch with the dial marked Bulova Quartz Lifetime Mainspring.  Is this really a thing?  Why would a quartz watch have a mainspring?  Thanks.

Doesn't make sense. Do you have a photo of the watch?

Agreed. Bulova would never make anything that cheap and nasty.

To me, it begs the question, if someone is going to invest their time and energy in making a counterfeit, why this?  Still, it sold with a bid of one dollar. SMH

That's the kind of watch you sell to someone in the parking lot of a hotel or motel with an out of state tag on their vehicle while they're loading their luggage to leave. You give them a sad story about how you lost your job and had to rob a jewelry store because your baby needs milk and you need to get rid of it fast before you're caught with it and are willing to let it go real cheap and you're in a hurry because the cops are looking for you.

Merc - sounds like you've had this experience in the past - how much did you get for that watch?  :-)

I was the one on the other end of that deal. I bought an Omega at an incredible bargain. When I made it back home I found out I had bought an Omega stamped 18k solid gold made in China.
