1/10/52 10AN Weird

Submitted by musical5 on November 2, 2011 - 7:37pm

This is strange to me. The case back is marked 1/10/52, but it says "anchor". Maybe someone just used a different case back? It is a round design with a 10AN. This doesnt jive. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

Justin

Justin,

All I see are a couple of red "X"s for pictures, but if the case is marked Anchor, the movement has been recased.

Sometimes the dial will remain original but most times it is also an aftermarket leaving the movement that is the only thing Bulova.. The movement should have a date code on it that will determine the year of manufacture.

Sounds like you have a Frankenbully on your hands. (or wrist) ; )

The pictures finally came up, the "X" that you see to the left of the winding stem is the date code and that would indicate that the movement was made in 1943 or possibly 1933.

The dial may be a Bulova dial and the hands also look to be Bulova.

What is the size of the case?

The case is 27mm. I think the case back was the only thing replaced. I was just trying to figure out if there was a model name.

Thanks

Not 1933....theres no movement serial number.

There is also no SWISS or USA stamp on the movement.

Can we see photos of the case back?

I'm not sure how much these will help with the ID.

Recased with a aftermarket case. Movement and dial are Bulova but the case is not. Like Jay said, Frankenbullie

So it's not just the case back? What about the hands?

It's a 1933 10AN 15j Swiss movement. Definite Bullhockey after market case.

The database here does not have a round dial 10AN in it. Or did I just not see it?

Thanks

Also look at the 1934 - 35 Banker model.  10AN with round face.  BTW just got one in yesterday.

Yes on the dial as a Bulova, but Banker, Commodore & some ladies rounders don't have the black RR tracks on the dial. Maybe Thelma! 1942 Practitioner
