11BLC Split Stem

Submitted by MGD001 on March 9, 2017 - 4:26pm

Looking for a split stem assembly for an 11BLC movement as you can see from this photo it is pretty oxidized and there is a lot of play in the stem.

Does anyone know what other movements 11BLC might cross with to find a similar part?

Hi MGD001 ,  I have attached a page from Ranfft movements that show other 11 Bxx calibers in the same family . But since this is a split stem I am assuming your movement is from a front loading case . That is where the movement is removed from the dial side after the crystal is removed .

If that is the case then you have to seek a split stem for this series movement as there is usually a solid and split stem version for the same movement .

It is easy enough to find the threaded side in male and female configurations and in different thread tap sizes,....I just bought an assortment of 12 in tap 8 and 10 , male and female . You are concerened with getting the proper movement side stem .

If I find something I will post it .....Good Luck with your search

You might want to send an inquiry to Sudarson of OLD SWISS WATCHES . I saw that he has some movement parts listed for the Bulova 11 Axxx and 11 Bxxx series . I have been lucky a few times looking for parts that weren't listed or shown on the web page .

Thanks ricardopalamino,

You are correct it is indeed a front loading watch. http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1969-sea-king-8528 I suppose I would buy a complete stem and get both halves? better than waiting on the other half to fail down the line. Thank you for the information and for keeping your eyes open. I appreciate the effort and the assistance.

Best Regards,

You are most Welcome .  I would try to get both matching halves if possible . It's the movement side that you really need to match your movement . I went searching with no results . You can get the female or male threaded half that are  readily available from several venders .

I have several Hamilton electric donor movements that have only the [ usually female ] , side of the stem present and I have bought an assortment of M / F halves threaded in differrent tap sizes to case and finish the watch with a crown .
