Back required but what model is this? Odd one.

Hi all

I am trying to help someone find a back to a 1951 watch (at least thats the movement code). The case looks like the Duo-wind / Thayer  but the dial and movement certainly are not. It has a 10bm movement and a dial I am unsure if it even comes from the same time period. The back has obviously been lost so nothing to go on from there. Any ideas, ever seen one with this movement before? I'm wondering if its parts of different models.. Photo below

Thanks, Gary

Gary,

21 Jewels?

it looks as if it may be the newly discovered 'ACADEMY AWARD', looking for the ad now.

I'd say that's it!

The "O" (?)

10BM is seen in other AAs (Z and S).

Date is good.

Need the jewel count.

Looks like a match to me on the case and dial, but the hands have been changed.

Very cool... the first AA "O" with the round dial we've had on the site.

Damn you guys are good.  Unfortunately i dont have the watch, the chap i'm trying to help does and this is the best photo of it.  Obviously this is a scarce model then so not much hope of finding a back?

Not hopeless, but a challenge and being no-one is certain what the back looks like all We could do is speculate:

'ACADEMY AWARD' series Cases have Gold Casebacks and are Gold Filled, stamped as such - the possible match would be from the 1950 or 1951 'BERKSHIRE' or similar (?)

I would say nearly impossible until another AA "O" is found and the case back compared to other models. Then you would have to find a donor case.

I was thinking along the linces of a Ashford, Jordan, Duo-Wind, Windchester.... those are all very similar in case I'm betting...
