Submitted by Gerard on April 26, 2013 - 3:15pm

Ive have been working on some 23's. I haven't read anything on it so ill ask. Did anyone notice that all the white sunburst dials are not all just white. There is a Satin variant?

Didn't notice it. I have a white sunburst and just recently saw a gold sunburst but haven't see any others.

Hi, John!

Like you, I have a white 23 sunburst.  Mine is a 1955 model.  I recently did some horse trading with a vintage watch guy in Kansas City and traded a very sharp '58 sunburst with a dark blue dial and a couple of Walthams for a 1960 Bulova President (I think I made a good trade).  The vintage dealer told me the blue dial was a re-dial, and Bulova only sold black or white.  To this point, I haven't found a definitive source for disproving what he told me.  I've studied the ads on the Forum, and can't find any other colors.

I wonder if the gold dial was a re-dial?  I saw a darker, almost blood red dial go across ebay a month or six weeks ago, and it was good looking watch.  Based on the condition of the dial, I'd almost guarantee that one was redone as well.

As soon as I complete the President you've helped me with, I will be adding it and the sunburst to the Forum list.

I think the Gold sunburst is a legitimate color and not a re-dial. I have a much newer President with the gold dial.
