Are 6AP movements Bulova gold?

Gerard, are you asking if some of the parts are gold or gold plate, or are you asking if these movements are comparatively rare - as in "like gold"?

They are to me, I need one right now. Mine has a bad mainspring and a questionable balance and hair spring.

Do you know what the measurements of the mainspring are? I have 3 but 1 out of the 3 is different so I need to check the measurements to see if they are the proper spring. As far as balance and hair spring I think that's the Diamond in the gold. One of the mainsprings is yours if they are correct.

6AP Mainspring measurements are:  1.20mm width or height, .0825mm strength or thickness, 10 1/2 length in inches. A 6P will interchange with it. or a 6PP or 6PPI.

If you have a balance and hairspring with balance bridge that just needs the hairspring straightened I can use it.

The Aurore-Villeret calibre 8 that the 6AP is based on, as already mentioned, also appears as the ebauche for the 6P, 6PP, and 6PPI. Despite being listed as interchangeable, the 6AP has a different balance staff.  I can't say I come across these much, if at all.

Everything Ive read so far says nothing is compatible with the 6AP. The AV8 and 6AP are supposed to be the same or compatible. All though I cant find a AV8 either.

Same here. I've been hunting for one for years. They may not actually exist. Anyone know if the 6AF mainspring would work?

According to the stats, they aren't the same, the 6AF one is longer, and also weaker. I'd have to check my Dennison conversion chart to find 'normal' dimensions, but I think it's safe to say it wouldn't really be ideal.
