i am looking to buy a roller remover..i don't know which one i should get..the type that works with a staking set, which i have, a bergeron style one that looks like a V or the one you twist the knob...if anyone can help it would make me extremly happy...as i am not having a good day..i am trying to figure out how to use a staking tool without any instructions...not know what punches do what is kinda troublesome...

I just use the Bergeon roller remover, #2810. It doesn't require a staking set. Installing the roller you would use the staking set.

If you need the staking tool to put the roller on, why not use it to remove the roller?

I would get the other pieces and complete the staking set and use that. I feel there is less chance of breaking the balance staff by using the staking set also.

I haven't used the one that has the central screw, but it seems to me that screwing the thing down would be a good way to damage the staff, despite the hollow screw for the balance pivot. I have never broken a staff using the 2810. There isn't much force required to remove the thing anyway, at least in vintage watches. The main advantage to using the staking set to install a roller table is merely the precision vertical alignment, and very little pressure is used.
