Contest Watch

I have several Bulova GS Flexo crystals T717 to fit the contest watch. What is the contest watch and what year was it produced?

It's the Trident.  There's more than one ad for it, but I think the first one is dated 1933, then one in 1934.

I believe that crystal will also fit the Alden and Chancellor of roughly the same time period (not to be confused with the later Alden).

Hi JP   Did Nova "win" the crystal or the contest watch :)

I think it should be both.  The Contest Watch wouldn't be much of a prize without the crystal.

You win the watch then he'll sell you the crystal.

In 1943 G-S list's the T717 as fitting the Trident and the Westpointer. Probably more.

I've been inventorying so instead of 30' they're more like 3 feet and a few keystrokes away.

It's good to know someone reads my post's!

Do you see anything for the Alden or Chancellor?  I've been looking for proof that those three cases are the same.  In addition to the plain bezel white gold Trident, I've got an engraved white gold model and a yellow gold model, all shaped the same and taking the same crystal.  The only ad for the Chancellor is years later, so I suspect the Alden of being a player here.

According to the ads we have:

1933/34 - Trident - white gold, unengraved

1935? - Alden - white and yellow gold, unengraved

1938 - Chancellor - yellow gold, unengraved

So far:

The only reference to the Trident is the T717 (flat)

The only reference to the Alden is MT348 (military)

Both in the 1943 GS catalog.

That's the later Alden, not the one that looks like the Trident and Chancellor.  The Alden that takes that crystal looks like this (mine is dated 1939):

Well I have several of the crystals and will be glad to donate one or two to those who need them.
