Did the Alden only have a stainless back?

Submitted by GVP on November 26, 2012 - 6:38am

I have an Alden watch, date, pictures, jewel count etc all confirm it as such. However in one advert it states it has a Stainless back. Mine doesn't, it has a RGP back. Did it come this way too or could it be a different model? Any Ideas.....

In 1940 many models take on a Stainless back which were Gold in the 1930's. Or, it could be a different model, which isn't much help.

What is the Date of manufacture?

The date is 1939. I notice many of the cases look similar to this but it looks an exact match for the alden including dial etc.

39 Case?

Not sure Gary, could be a different Model or We have the 'ALDEN' incorrectly ID'd? There's a lot of variables.

I'd suggest entering the Watch into the database with as much detail as possible, Case and Crystal dimensions are usually a big help on the 'close calls'.

Will add it tomorrow. Case number starts with a 9 and the movement is dated to 1939. Not sure if the case number date theory has been proved yet though....
