I'm bidding on this Bulova, but I won't likely win...

Hello,

Without defying too many rules about linking, promoting or even mentioning certain topics, here's a screenshot of an AMAZING looking Bulova watch. Sometimes I can be impulsive so I am hoping someone can shed a little light on this watch.

Are there more of these out there? Anyone know what it's called. I know it's a bit flashy but if I were to invest in this, is there a good chance it is something I could wear often.. is it hardy, well-made or are these old things fragile? I do have a few Bulovas that I am not shy about wearing... but this is gorgeous.

I've been saving up to purchase a 2012 everyday watch with a classic 60's style. Since my top three aren't Bulovas, I'll spare you the details. If I were to buy this watch, I won't be able to purchase the one I've been saving for... for the unforseeable future.

Most likely this watch will go for far more than I have to spend right now.. but I can dream~

Do you think it's as amazing looking as I do?

It looks similar to a Treasurer that I have , mine is dated 1946. Have a look in the watch index. Do not think they are particulaly rare as I have seen a number for sale. None the less it is an attractive watch .

I think it was "His Excellency" then later became "treasurer"

It was the other way around, i.e., Treasurer first.  Lots of models had other names through approx. 1947, then became a variant of the His Excellency line.

Thanks. I quickly found several Treasurers with this bottle cap bezel from 1947 here on myBulova. I'll let you know how close I come to owning this one... at least now I can keep my eye open for one.

I've been looking "into" watches lately and have touched the tip of a new iceberg in my life called horology. I just wish those little screwdrivers weren't so expensive~!

Oh-No... the watch 1949 "His Excellency JJ" is seriously degraded aesthetically by the Coca-Cola logo.

If someone were a cross collector of Coca Cola and Bulova watches....this may not be true.  But I like w/o the commercial too!

They (good screwdrivers) are worth every penny (or dollar) as they work well.  In a years time, you will mess up enough screws/watches with the cheap version, and have to purchase a new set every few months, and will end up spending the money which would have gotten you the good set from the go get.  Buy quality and cry once.....  and the good ones last for decades, so you can look for used, and then get new blades if need be.  I found this out the hard way years ago...

The cheaper screwdrivers are good for starters, just Buy the ones with replaceable tips. As they wear replace the tips with good quality replacements.

Superbison, Vintage Bulova's are very well made and meant to be worn. 1947 = 65 years old still running and with proper serviving will run another 65 years or more. I still wear a 1927 Conquerer and a 1927 Lone Eagle though my everyday watch is a 1945 Hamilton "Sentinal C".

Welcome to our world!

My only criticism of these, (since I do like the design) is that the solid gold ones had cases that were quite thin, and would wear right through. I've had two with the same problem.

Update: I was out of the bidding long ago. I can hardly believe the final selling price of this watch... I hope it's ok to post it on mybulova.com:  $517.17.

Guess I'm not the only one who thinks this is a gorgeous vintage Bulova~!

Who ever bid that kind of coin wanted it for sentimental reasons and so did someone else. That's called a bidding war and sellers like myself pray for that to happen with our watches. Keep looking and another will come along and it may suprise you to sell under a $100.00. I paid $28.00 for mine. Just be patient no matter how long it takes to get one at your price.

Think I paid around 30 for mine as well...

Ya know I am the proud owner of the Excellency JJ and I must say I kind of resent your saying the Coca Cola logo degraded the watch!

1. It is arguably the most famous Logo in the world.

2. It was a service recognition watch owned by a man named Warren McCray who probably had to work 25 or 30 years to earn it. As one who worked 32 years for the same company I respect that.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, I'm just sayin!

Bob

Now, if there were a Barq's version I might be tempted to bid 5x the going rate.

"Drink Barq's..... It's good!"

Darren (remembers when Barq's wasn't root beer)

I have held that Coca Cola watch in my hands, I have broken bread with it's owner (there might have been beer involved), it is superb

and I STILL want it, I always will.

Shawn is right, < $100 is normal. Mine is rose gold with the original rose gold Kreisler bracelet, I paid $68 USD.
