Hello

I have a set but no instructions.  De Carle has a section on main spring winders in Practical Watch Repairing that may help.

Use is pretty basic.  You pick the size winder that is slightly smaller than your barrel.  You put the arbor end of the mainspring through the opening in the winder.  Hook the winding arbor and then turn the arbor.  The mainspring will wind up inside.  It will have a tendency to want to unwind on its own until the spring is fully wound into the winder barrel.

Once you reach the end the mainspring hook will either get caught on the outside of the winder or pull through.  I don't think it matters which happens.  Gently and carefully turn the arbor a little in the opposite direction to disengage the hook.  Remove the winder arbor.  (These are the steps where springs can go flying)

Now the mainspring is in the winder.  Place it inside the watch barrel and press the button on the back of the winder.  Make sure to line up the end of the mainspring with the hook/ledge on the inside of the barrel.

Hope this helps...
