Hi Fifth,

Look under the balance wheel and tell me if you can see a 3 to 5 digit # like 7733, 7738 ect. and also look for a halmark design like a rosette with a letter or design in it like a triangle. And how many regesters are on the dial, Looks like two

Off hand , it looks like a Landeron or a Valjoux movement. and the Bulova Stars and stripes chrono used a Valjoux 7738 if I recall. (3 regesters)

Mike,

This is in a Stopwatch - 2 registers but no traditional Hour and Minutes. (link to the Watch in the original post) 2 Seconds style Hands in the Center, (Seconds and Minutes??)

I've found reference to the 'BXW' stamped on the balance, from what I have read this is a mark for a Swiss made Bulova movement. - Valjoux, or is the Landeron Swiss also?

"High Grade, Swiss Made,
Valjoux 23 Movement Signed Bulova Watch Co,
Swiss and Stamped with the Bulova Swiss
Factory Code BXW on the Balance."

The Valjoux 23 referenced above relates to a Bulova 13AF.

Looking around the balance....

Looked 'around' the balance and found nothing. I assume the balance needs to come out? ... a little beyond My expertise.

Hi Fifth,

The "BXW" stamped on the balance is most likely a import mark and refers to a spacific importer of the movement, not the manufacture and was probably not even stamped at the factory.

As for the Valjoux 23, I beleive it to be just that.  If you have a ligne guage to measure the movement , it should be a 13 ligne movement.

I looked in my bestfit book and Bulova did use the 23 for stop watches , and yes Landeron is a swiss movement. You wont find anything under the balance bridge as to model, the only # under the bridge itself is the last few #'s of the serial # of the watch, this is to keep the same balance bridge with the movement, during production.

The only place you MAY find movement referance #'s is under the dial itself .

 Hope this helps.  Mike
