Need lower cap jewel for 10bpadc (bulova 23 calendar), or info on interchangeability

Submitted by lryand on December 8, 2012 - 10:14pm

Hello new to the site.  I have a 1956 bulova 23 calendar watch, movement 10bpadc.  Aging watch repair man said I need a lower cap jewel for the watch, or the entire balance assembly if possible.  This must be a relatively rare movement and I can't find what I need.  Anybody got this part?  Or, if not, anyone know whether this movement is interchangeable with other, more common movements?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

oops, think movement is 10bpad.  My watch guy has the watch at his shop.  Sorry, I am a newbie.

Hi There,

According to my 1963 Bulova Interchangable parts catalog you are looking for the following...

#82B  Lower Shock Resist Cap Jewel - 10CSC

If you have seen Bulova parts packages this makes sense.  The 10CSC is the "basic model" for the jeweling.  You will see below the balance complete has a different basic model.

You may also be interested in:

#82A  Lower Shock Resist Hole Jewel - 10CSC

#82C Lower Shock Resist Setting - 10CSC

The Balance Complete would be:

#54 Balance Complete (Flat) - 10BOAC

Hope this helps.

Thanks Paleotime!  Helps tremendously.  That 10 BPAD movement must be a rare bird.

I may be able to help you with your request for a part. PM me and I will look at my stock and will also check with a close friend who has a pretty good stock of parts for 23's.

Thank you JP, but I found a balance complete for 10 bpad!  I had sent an Omega to someone to get fixed and he has the part.  Thanks again though, I appreciate the willingness to help.  Can't wait to have this Calendar watch workin and back on my wrist.
