Hi,
This is my first posting on this forum but I have been a member for a while. I have been skulking and reading others' posts even longer than that.
The question I have is that I have a 1947 dated Ambassador (I'm pretty sure) with a 21 jewel 8AH movement. It took it in to my local watchmaker and was told that in needs a new "balance compete". He has tried all his usual contacts and has been unable to find this part anywhere. I wonder if any of you good people might have such a thing in the back of some old drawer that I might purchase.
I am quite fond of the watch as you don't see very many rose gold plated rectangular watches any more, but it isn't much good when it doesn't work.
If any of you might be able to help me out I would really appreciate it.
Best regards,
de Stokesay
Balance complete for the 8AH has been discontinued.
I'd try Cas-ker Co, they probably have it.

The Bulova 8AH is the same as the ETA 1000 or the Doxa 98. Are you sure that it needs a complete balance?

Sounds like it has a cracked or broken balance jewel. I don't have that part in inventory, but you might look for a non-running 8ah movement on ebay and swap out the balance cock and jewel with the one in your watch, using the balance wheel and hairspring from your watch. A competent watch maker should be able to easily swap.
