Submitted by Ticktock77 on November 1, 2011 - 9:36am

Hey

Ive started training as a watch repairman and have been sucked in by the blackhole of collecting. lol

I bought a 1928 Bulova that i dont know the exact name for. I can never post pics because well because i dont know how BUT its pic is still up on ebay even though auction has ended. Just go to ebay and  type  300597605901 in the search box and it should pull up.

Its 14k white gold filled, movement is 9AN with cresent moon symbol which is 1928,case has pat date of 1927. Is it a president????

Thanks Matt

Matt,

Closed 9 Dial with Cathedral style Hands: 1928 - '29 (?)  In 1930 the engraving pattern changed.

Admin or Wayne may be able to narrow the Date down a little further.

Hey

Thanks for posting pics for me!!!!

It has a leather band that looks REAL old !!!

Whats the chances of finding one of these mesh bands like in the ad???

$50 price tag in 1928 wow!!!  That would be like a $1000 now wouldnt lol.

Im replacing  the balance staff and sending the dial to Atlanta for a restore.

Thanks for the help guys.

I am based in England and I am curious about the cost of restoring watch dials. I have a number of bulova watches with excellent cases but dials that have seen better days. I am thinking that sending watch dials to the USA may be a better option than trying to have them restored in England.  Thanks.

We had a member on here from England who was a watchmaker and he sent all his to International Dial here in the States.  It took several weeks for a turn around but for the price and quality he wouldn't go anywhere else.

Unfortunately el-oose was an elderly gentlemen and we haven't heard from him in several months.  There's a chance he's gone to that big Watchmaker in the sky.

He had about 6 of my watches he was selling/refurbing for me and we'll have to write them off as a "community watch tax" I think.

I'm in the States and have had a 'difficult' Dial in at IDC since Oct 9, to date it is still not complete.

The Dial was bent with 4 layers of color, $48 is the quote to refinish. - well worth the wait and cost IMO.

You will need to register as a Customer - Turnaround times and cost varies with degree of difficulty.
