Partial stem for 11AL mvmnt.

Submitted by bobbee on April 23, 2012 - 6:32am

Just broken the stem on my watch. I have found a supplier close to home who has partial female stem extensions, but I need to know the stem size. The watch is a 1962 Surf King, pop-out case (waterproof), 11AL mvmnt. The sizes he has are 0.7,0.8,0.9 and 1.0 just need to know which to order. Anyone help?

The stem design is 2 piece, Bulova part #'s would be 16A and 16B.

Thanks Fifth, but the guy selling the part Ineed has only the sizes I stated for the female part I need, would you know which size would be compatible with the 11AL?

The sizes refer to the crown tap.

Several lengths are shown, better wait for a Watchmaker to chime in.

I've been looking at the wrong part, it is the female winding part needed, that sits in the movmnt. and the catalogue doesn't mention the AL mvmnt. so don't know which size will fit. Will need to know of supplier now as the ones I was looking at were for the crown side and won't fit!

To this point in time Cas-Ker Co. have never let Me down for a Bulova part.

See my PM to you on interchangability. I have female stems for several movements.

Ranfft notes some interchangeability info for the 11AL family.

On his site above, I don't know what the entry    Stem W2802     means?

JP probably got you more in depth info already.

mybulova watch movement database needs to be updated to reflect the date range from 1964 through 1967- as evidenced by movements in watch records.  I'll confirm and update now.  We have a 1963 Surf King listed as having an 11AL, however the date is from the case back, and the movement date code is not mentioned/confirmed.

William, I've just looked at the mvmnt.date code, M4, looked again at caseback as at first it looked like M2 to me, but is lightly overstamped M6.
