self winding 23 jewels

Submitted by JP on June 5, 2012 - 2:08am

I have a selfwinding day date that says 23 jewels on the movement but not on the dial. Is that a normal practice ?? It is a screw down water proof back and says it is 20 microns 10K gold. I am assuming this means it is electroplated. I will post it tomorrow but just wondered if any one was up beside me and could answer my question.

Mine has lugs outside of the elicptial shape and is yellow gold. Thanks though.

John, I should have been more clear. The linked watch does not have "23 Jewels" on the dial and it is a day/date. There is no pic of the movement to prove that it is 23j.

Same here, athough this one is tentatively id'd and links to another example.

So it would appear that there were 23j  auto day/dates that did not indicate 23j on the dial.

Thanks Dar. It is a little confusing that they would not put that on the dial but Bulova seems to have invented confusion in watches.

Interesting fact. The first C is 21 jewels and its twin is only 17 jewels.

Good catch John. Just goes to show that one should never trust anyone who spells their name "Geoff".
