SUC crystals

Submitted by JP on April 28, 2012 - 10:03pm

I just bought a 17 drawer crystal cabinet stuffed full of SUC crystals and can supply just about any thing in the SUC line as there about 1700 crystals there. I am in the process of getting an SUC catalog so I will be able to identify most of the crystals. Any one having an SUC catalog older than 1960 that is willing to send me a copy would be greatly appreciated and we can work out a trade of some sort or cash.

Standard Unbreakable Crystal. You may have seen their lucite (plastic) crystals in an orange packet referred to as "Rocket Cylinder". I think they only made cylinder type Rocket crystals and rounds under the Stella name. I don't recall ever seeing a regular, thin non-cylinder type SUC.

***CORRECTION*** Stella rounds were BB/Perfit

Darren, you must not refer to non- Bulova websites, i.e. Watch Talk Forums!

Actually I think the process of referring/linking to non-Bulova websites, when the particular post or discussion in reference is Bulova- related, is the correct way to reference this information.  This avoids re-posting possible proprietary information (intellectual property rights), pitfalls of incorrect citations, and mitigates the chance of misinterpretation of the source information.

Wow, William, I've read that 3 times and still not sure I get it!

I think it's OK to post links to other websites if the content is Bulova-related and is somewhat relevant to our discussion. By posting the link, we can't get in trouble for using their content and can't misquote the information.  The exception is linking to an active auction listing, as this can result in a conflict of interest, and is against our site rules.

I deleted a few of the posts on here as they weren't really productive but rather a bit negative to the cause.  Plains El Monitoro.

Darhin got it right, Standard Unbreakable Crystal  more commonly named Rocket Cylinder and available for all Bulova models as well as the other manufacturer's. IMO, a lower quality substitute for glass or GS crystals. I only use them when I don't have the GS brand or glass.
