I found reference to this story on another discussion site.  The general belief is that it is false and this is not the first time the story has circulated.  I've submitted it to Snopes.com for investigation.  I'll let you know if I get a response.

Looks a lot like this Jet Clipper, which, as you can see, was new in '62.  1965 Commander also shares features.

Oh, well - at least the guy has a nice, much newer watch!  Did Bulova even MAKE a waterproof watch in 1941?

The first ad we have for the Watertite is dated 1930.

looks like a late 60's early 70's 'SEA KING' - 'DATE KING' thing.

IMO

...but at almost 90 Years old who would know the difference....and who would care?

'yep that's my watch....I'd recognise the 'old boy' anywhere.....'

That's what I think happened.  The story probably happened.  The old boy forgot what his watch even looked like after so many years.  They said.. hey we found your watch.  He said... my what now?  Yeah the watch you reported lost 50 years ago.  He said... uhmm ... alrighty! MY WATCH!

Still you think someone would do the math and figure out just how old the watch really was.

Isn't is good that we now have the myBulova Watchdog website!
