I just inherited this watch from my grandfather. It appears to be a 1930 Spencer, but would like some assistance with the identification. It also resembles the President. Has a glass sheil to protect the movement. Keeps great time. I wear it every day. Any help would be appreciated. jeff

Just picked this one up and wanted to post it, as well as ask a few questions.  It just arrived and the pictures are from the eBay listing.

First, the movement is a 17 jewel, 1926 9AN, with a triangle date stamp.  It also has an arrow, and I found the prior discussion of 1926 movements with arrows, so I guess it’s a known anomaly http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1926-conqueror-53   The beginning number of the case is an 8, and the case also has the Jan. 11, 1927 patent date on it, so I’m assuming the proper date is 1928, despite the movement dating two years prior.  Is that normal?  I did find another 1928 President in the database with a 9AN movement, albeit with a 1928 date stamp (crescent) http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1928-president-3395 .  Like the other 1928 in the database, mine has a broken hinge too.

Also, the watch came with a case, as pictured. While the seller said it was “original” to the watch, I assume it’s later?  1930 or so?  Also, interestingly, the case says “Cased and Timed at Sterling Tower Toronto”.   For what it’s worth, according to the Wikipedia article I found, Sterling Tower was completed in 1928.  Are there other cases from this period with the  Sterling Tower language?

BTW, I also have a nice 1925 President, as well as a 1930 model and a 1932 with the wandering seconds…

21 jewel 6AE USA movement with arrow date stamp. Case has very thin scroll work to the left and right of crystal. Case is gold filled and slightly curved. Inside case back reads Bulova New York. Case back reads the serial numbers between the bottom lugs and B-10K Gold Filled between the upper lugs. Band is a Benrus expandable 1/20-10k GF w/ stainless steel bottoms.

Research led me to two contenders; Treasurer or President. I'm leaning towards President because of the 21 jewel movement.

Update: Case length to ends of lugs: 1 3/4" approx 44.45mm Case width: 3/4" approx 19.05mm Crystal length: 1" approx 25.4mm Crystal width: 9/16" approx 14.29mm

Hi All:  I recently inherited this beautiful watch.   Would appreciate any information you could provide regarding its origins. On the back of the case: "14K gold filled" (it's pink/rose gold color) and "Bulova".  Case serial number is "3439982".   Dial is black/charcoal.  Has sub-second hands.  Crown, which I don't think is original, is missing a "Bulova" stamp.   Crystal, which may also be new, has minimal wear or scratching.  However, I think the cyrstal is actually plastic.  The leather strap/band is also relatively new.   I have not had the opportunity to take it to a jeweler for closer inspection.   It was running when I received it and keeps perfect time.  After scouring your database, the dial seems to match a 1948 His Excellency NN, but the case does not.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.   After spending some time on this site, it's easy to become a vintage Bulova addict!  ;-)

I recently bought  this watch, which runs well and keeps excellent time. The person I bought it from, who seemed to know something of its history, described it as a President F model dating from 1945 (although the X date marking suggests 1943).

Having looked at the database of watches on this site, it seems to be similar to President models of that period although I'm not sure about the "F" suffix.

The expanding band with which it is fitted has supposedly been with the watch since new. It is marked "Speidel 1945 Phoenix". I would be interested if anyone would know whether this is an original band or not. I must admit, I love the watch but the band looks rather feminine for my taste and I'm not crazy about it, however if it is original I'll stick with it.
