Additional Information:

This watch appears to be a President F, according to the 1940 ad that can be found by following the link below (the one with the radio tower that proclaims 'America greets the new Bulova "President".'); I am also adding below a small excerpt from the ad showing what looks like the subject watch.

http://www.mybulova.com/vintage-bulova-watch-ads?title=194

The movement date code suggests a 1940 manufacturing date.

This watch is in decent shape and runs, but could use a new crystal. I will probably send it sometime soon to our member Timemachines (Mike Cousineau) for a service and possibly a crystal replacement.

There are some odd things going on with this watch! First the s/n on the back is 226321 which indicates the mfg. date is 1932, but there is a second s/n on the inside of the caseback 3031093 which would indicate a mfg. date of 1933. Then the movement symbol appeares to be a T indicating 1932, but then it appears someone scratched a line through it changing it to an X which would make it 1933. The only ad in the DB for a 1932 President is for a 17 jewel mvt. This one is 21 jewel. Also the 32 does not have the wandering seconds bit as this one does. No 1933 ad in the DB for a President. The first wadering seconds ad I've seen is a 1934 ad. So thats the ad I used for the supporting advert. Hope the panel can figure this one out!

I believe this to be a Bulova President.

The case back is stamped L2, suggesting a 1952 manufacture year. According to the seller's photo (I have not yet personally opened the watch), the movement date code appears to be L4, but it is not perfectly clear. Perhaps this is a 1952 watch and the movement was replaced at some point.

I would appreciate any information on the watch I received from my fathers estate. The peice works and I was going to start wearing it and wonder if I should get additional insurance. The other option is to put the watch in the lock box to give to my grandson at a later date.

What I know about the watch:

It has engraving on the back from my mother to my father in 1945

Pretty sweet President, Model F variant.  I really love this  four tone dial in gray, white, black, and rose gold.  Looks so great with that rose gold case.  This one is sporting a really nice rose gold expansion band as well.

I think this maybe one of the most underrated Bulova models.  I find it gorgeous but there's not much love for them it seems.  One of my favorite models.
