Not a clue what this is. Anyone have an ID?

Dont think I have seen this model before.

  • It has a 1948 8ae movement although to me the design looks older...
  • Note the recesses crown, almost looks like it hasn't got one when face on.
  • Also the wide sides
  • Thin claw like lugs.
  • It takes the CX873C G-S crystal (if that is meant for just this model though, again I dont know).

Anyway, here it is. I'll add it to database when we know what it is. Gary

Yes fully signed by Bulova inside and out of back. case serial 9477953.

I have since found another with the same dial and movement on ebay also, although not in as good condition. Here is the pic of that one:

Legit piece, here's another dated 1947.

Although that interestingly has a different dial and is Swiss marked (and wrongly so if it has the same movement which is USA made) is there any info on the movement of that one?

Can't locate the watch, 8AH I believe it was GJ - not 100% certain, 95%, although 8AH would make sense being a swiss movement.

Back when this watch was made I believe that it was OK to mark a dial Swiss made even if the movement was not.  Things changed in 1971.  They are about to change again.
