Bulova Broadcaster?

Submitted by vintagedream on January 22, 2011 - 3:33pm

HI, I am new to collecting wrist watches.   This watch was sold to me as a 'Broadcaster' but I have been unable to find any information identifying it as this model.  It has a 10BC movement and a small 49 which I think identifies it as a 1949 model.  Thanks in advance for any information

I see Broadcaster listed in the add a watch section of this site but we have no actual examples, so if your watch is a Broadcaster yours would be the frist one in the database.

The seller looks to be a guy who posts here... from the background anyway.  He knows his stuff... he's been through several hundred Bulova's I'm thinking... if he id'd it as a Broadcaster it's more than likely that.

Hard to tell from this drawing from a 1938 ad.

I bought the watch through ebay.   The seller restores and handles hundreds of watches.  I contacted him and he said he got the name from the fact that a Broadcaster crystal fit it.

Looks the same watch as the 'Duncan' to me as listed on here. I believe the Broadcaster had the same case but with Engraving. I have one and will add to the site shortly. In fact I believe all of the
"Broadcasters" through the years had engravings.

The Duncan:

Also 'BROADCASTER' ad states 21J whereas the watch shown has a 17J movement.  Dial color is custom.

'DUNCAN' would be My opinion.
