Hi, wonder if any you guys can help me.  I have a ladies  bulova cocktail watch from 1924.  It was working perfectly until the other day when it suddenly stopped. I took it to a very well know and reputable jewellers who fell in love with it.  Anyway,  what i wanted to ask is can anyone give me anymore information re- this being the first introduction of ladies watches by the Bulova company?

Hi Cindy,

Welcome and we hope you have nice time looking around.  In order to try to give you some information about your watch we would need some information about it and at a few good pictures.  If you could snap some nice shots of it and upload them here that would give us a leg up in helping you.

Thanks and welcome again!

A sudden stop, although not necessarily catastrophic, isn't good.

Make sure the Watch is wound then proceed with this simple check.

If the Watch has a Seconds Hand pull the Crown (set position) slowly advance the hands forward and look for movement on the Seconds hand. If the Seconds Hand moves while powering the Crown the repair may be as simple as professionally cleaning the movement.

No Seconds hand, the case will need to be opened to observe the Balance. Or:

You could try shaking it gently, make sure it's wound, this time leave the Crown in the run position. (in) and observe for movement of the hands, it may run for a Minute or Two then stop again.

A reputable Watchmaker is always the remedy, the Mall or Chain Jeweler tends to be a 'middle Man' inflating repair costs.
