Well while clearing out my grandmothers estate, somone found a gold-plated Bulova watch and had tossed it in a bin of misc. stuff for $2. I fished it out because it seemed like a decent, (If cheap looking) running mechanical watch. I was going to give it to a friend who needed a watch, but I decided to look it up before doing so. And was very surprised to find it's dated to 1953 by the system here.
The back of the case says, "10K rolled gold plate, Bulova L3" along with a serial # 6953160. One end of the watch band says, "BULOVA 1/20 12K G.F. Top" while the other says, "DES. Pat Pend. SS Back-L3" And those are the only markings I have besides BULOVA on the watch-face.
It's of no sentimental value to me, but I figured I would check and see if it had any intrinsic value before giving it away. The watch runs, and keeps time nicely. One of the pieces of the spring band is missing its gold cap. And it's got 60 years worth of scuffs on it, but nothing too drastic. I find it odd that the movement comes out with the back of the case, instead of sticking to the lense like every other watch I've seen.
Any information would be appreciated.
