Tuxedo/Craftsman/Ambassador/Exc GG. Same design, different dial, now two more?

Submitted by GVP on February 14, 2011 - 2:55pm

Just got these two watches in. Both have the same case design as the Tux, Exc GG, Craftsman Ambassador but both have different dials to any I can find so are they known as something else or was it just varients of the Ambassador model (pre 1949 models I believe)?

  • Both are 10kgf
  • Both are 1947  (47 marked) 21j 7AK models
  • One has an unusual baton-number combination

Ideas?

Gary,

Process of elimination:

Can't be a Tuxedo, solid 14k.

Can't be an Excellency, those weren't released until 1949.

Leaves Craftsman or Ambassador, that We know of.

You have one of each so, one's an Ambassador and one's a Craftsman?  Odds are 50/50 You'll be right.

: )

The craftsman was also solid 14k gold so i guess that just leaves the ambassador. Perhaps they had A B C models etc for different dials?

I have a '55 Craftsman Gold filled Gary, I think. Maybe I should double check. lol

But, Yes. It's going to be a variant from what We know at this juncture IMO.

The only advert I have found of the Craftsman says 14k gold, which is why I presumed it wasn't GF
