Hard to tell but probably the symbol for 1929. It looks an awful lot like a Lone Eagle but the engraving differs a bit from those in the database. The movement is a 10AE.

The case is sized the same as most 1928-1930 Bulova tonneau shaped watches (Banker excluded) and should have a 10AN movement. The 10AE didn't show up until 1935. I also got stuck with a 1940 10AE in a 1928 Bulova Richard & was able to get a discount, due to being non-authentic. I am collecting & measuring 1928-1930 Bulova tonneaus. Your engraving design is rare, Bulova didn't use the vertical engraving pattern (bowling pin & ball)until 1930. I have pictures of this same watch probably from a prior sale, & have been unable to identify it.. When you get a chance please take some case measurements and list them when you log this into the data base.

As soon as I get the watch in my hands I will take measurements (with the new digital calipers that arrived yesterday) and get the watch posted.
So, should I be on the lookout for a 10AN movement dated around 1930? Or would you recommend doing nothing until we can ID the case?
Thanks for your help with this.

Did the seller alude to any date for the watch or name or anything that verified authenticity? If not I would look for a 10AN to have some degree of authenticity to match the case year. The case is rare, only one I've seen with those markings. The dial & hands looks pretty good. It's a keeper.

I finally got this puppy. Measures approx. 36.5mm long x 26.5mm wide not including the crown. It's a beautiful case and dial; too bad it has the wrong movement.
It's the same size as my 1929 Lone Eagle. Case shape looks identical. Just different engraving pattern.
