Rose gold tank...

What do we have here?  The description the seller gave is:

HANDSOME PINK GF BULOVA WRISTWATCH

Case in good condition with the usual fine surface scratches.   GF case back without personalization.  Thick glass crystal also in good condition.   Light brown dial has no cosmetic issues, features a sunken subdial at 6 o'clock.  Nice 10K GF expansion band.   High quality 21 jewel 8AE movement keeps good time.   The smaller 20 X 35 mm case makes this one perfect for a lady who wants a funky retro look

What do we think?

I don't know about the watch.... but I can't believe how effeminate the bracelt/ bands were back in the day! I think I would have went with a pocket watch if that band was my only choice.

Yeah I think that's an aftermarket throw on... looks to be yellow gold bracelet on a rose/pink gold watch.

Boo.... it'll be one of the first things gone... that dial looks pretty clean under that gunky crystal.  Rose color with white and black accents... pretty sweet.  Time to go through the ads...

21 Jewel, 8AE looks like it was from 1941 to 1950... here I go.

Get rid of that band, and it will look good.  Those lugs are studly, and it has a nice manly case (simplistic and blocky :>)

Ah HA.... I think we've found it.

Here's two ad's for the 1946, 21 Jeweled "Douglas"

Also a 1947 ad for a 17 Jewel Douglas.... dont' know if it came in the 21 J that year...  so I think we're probably on with the '46?

Now thats a nice looking band in the ad. I think they are called rice bead bands. Unfortunately their quite expensive. At least the ones I've seen are. About 125.00.  :-(

Jerin, Novas right ! Get rid of that band. I'm not sure that it's a womans watch, maybe Bullys Unisex Models??

Nope... read on... it's a Men's 21 J, Douglas .... that's what I'm thinking.

Yes without doubt a "Douglas" Gents watch. That was a fairly common band from the period, it is a mans band. Not many have survived because the springs break. I have maybe 6 or seven tucked away somewhere, all with broken springs and very difficult to repair.

Definately a "Douglas", I have a 1948 ad that validates it. It also describes it as "available in pink and white". It's a fairly common Bulova, I currently have 4 in the works, 1 white(grey dial w/ silver hands), 1 pink (copper dial w/ bluesteel hands) and 2 yellow (white dial, gold hands).

There is also a  solid 14K version, "Bruce" I think, Sorry but I just can't find the ad I saw it in.

Crystal is a GS CMX323-1 ( Flat Single facet top )

The 8AE seems to be a more problematic movement and I do see alot with broken mainsprings but not difficult to repair that at all. The hairspring repair is a different story , very tricky to adjust, but still not to difficult when you can find the parts.

The bands are the rice bead type and I can sell you a band, used and worn but pink and original. Make me an offer if your interested.
