1930 15J 10AX Bulova - What is the model??

 I have determined from the date chart on this site that this is a 1930 watch as it has that particular symbol on it. It is 15 jewels and has 10AX written as well (movement??).  It says it was made in the USA and the outer case says 10K Rolled Gold Plate Bezel and stainless back.

Any information is greatly appreciated as it was my great grandfather's watch.

First glance I'd say an Alden... but lemme find an ad... and your probably looking at 1940 rather than 1930... same stamp but your watch has the feel of the 40....

Here you go bro... this looks like your grandpa's watch...

1940 Alden, 15 Jewels, natrual gold

Hi,

Watch case & dial style is more 1940's than 1930's. The Omega symbol will date it 1930 or 1940, and you have to go by the design of the watch to the period. It looks to me like this watch may be the "Alden"

The more time you spend looking at ad's the more gets etched in to the old bean! = quicker reaction time :-)

 Thanks plainsmen, I can absolutely see how this could become quite addictive. I've always had an interest in vintage watches as I find modern watches waaaay too large and gaudy. I am thinking this may be my jumping off point for another expensive and time consuming hobby :)

Have you any idea where I might find an appropriate leather band that would be similar to the original? I would like to get the watch looking as original as possible.

Hrmm... well if you want you can look on ebay for NOS (New Old Stock) but they run pretty decent money...

I know that a member and watchmaker on here timemachines has a bunch of those NOS bands... maybe private message him and ask.  I think you could probably aquire one pretty reasonably.

Oh and yeah... I had zero desire to look at old watches 6 months ago... found my grandfathers watch in my storage and POW!!  I got hugely bitten by the bug... now I'm a regular.... I think.

No links right now, but look for a 15/16mm Brown band that will have blunt ends, leather, and a gold buckle, that was the style back then...
