Just had an idea.  I'm a bit to lazy to probably do this.... heh.

A chart.. with a Picture of the watch model then all the names and years for that watch underneath it.

Say a chart with a bunch of cases... I dunno... tonneau's together.. squares together... with mmxmm's...

Say something like this:

               1941 - Rockland

               1943 - Comptoller

          1945/46 - Knickbocker

                1947 - Clinton

           1948/49 - Chief

And the next watch...etc....  oh I'm sure it would take forever.... and be very cool... I salute you who thinks to take on this project!!  hehe...

I've been coming at it from a slightly different angle. I've been working on a list of models that are very similar or identical, then I'm listing any distinguishing factors for each one.  Such a list could be expanded into something larger and more general, like Plains was suggesting.  I haven't gotten very far, since I just started it a couple of days ago, but it's coming along.

I've also been toying with the idea of going through every ad and listing the models for each one.  If such a list were in something like Excel, it could be easily searched by model, year, whatever.  It could even be linked to images.   If I were to do something like that, it would be helpful to know what data would be most useful so that I could get it right the first time.
