So...what is it?

I've been given this one as a pre-inheritance gift from my grandfather, and am struggling to find out any information about it.

Having gone through the all the watches on this site, I can find nothing that looks quite like it, and though the accompanying leaflet describes it as a 'Tecnique series', I can't find a single corresponding Google search result.

To add a little more:

The face only shows 'Bulova' and 'Quartz' - no other writing.

The back is brushed gold (colour/plate?) and has an engraving relating to my grandfather's 25 years service at a company, which is why I've not photographed it. It contains no serial numbers or other marks, and I'm not comfortable popping the back to see if there in any identifying marks inside.

It was presented in 1985.

That's it. Any ideas please? Thanks.

I can tell you that the Batt Power indication system works to let you know the battery is low by 'jumping' the seconds hand approx 5 secs at a specific interval when battery is low.

Nothing in the database here....Could be a specific design for presentation (ie retirement, 25yr etc) watches not generally sold to the public and therefore hard to google

'85 may be new enough that an email to Bulova may get some info for you if none comes from others here.

Beyond that, you could take it to a jeweler and have them open the back and get the movement and any interior case marklings...

Nice looking watch, probably not inexpensive.

Hi, and thanks for the information.

Well, I left it a while in case anyone else had any suggestions, but it seems like Bulova might be the best point of contact.

As for local jewellers, I live in a developing country so I'd prefer not to have to do that. It was more out of interest than any pressing need, so I'll wait for now.

Cheers,
