Switch/Lever on my 8AE 21 J

There is a small lever or switch on this mvmnt and after reading the recent discusion about the possible new Duowind, well It seems odd...  Its located just above the Triangle date symbol..Is it the ratchet release for the mainspring tension? School me please....and thanx !

Geeze how simple a device that has been left OFF of so many many other mvmnts lol that little lever could save tons of mainsprings I would bet !!!

 All wind up watches have this of some kind. Most you can see on top of the movement though, not between oplates like this design. Basically it stops the main wheel, not the mainspring barrell its self.

right but having the little post sure makes it easier to unwind the mainspring without damage and without having to poke something into the movement to release the ratchet stop, which sometimes requires a bit of extreme dexterity...
