help identifying my grandmothers watch

Hi all,

I recently added an unknown watch to your list. I dated it 1950 because it was a requied field and the watch boxes and guarentee are for sure Academy Award (AA)- as they match pics on your site exactly. The watch though is a different matter. It does have ribbing  right in the very center of the face which is consistant with the criteria for an Academy Award watch but it seems less classic in style then the AA watches you have pics of. I browsed your collection of ads and it almost seems more in keeping with the earlier styles - but what do I know really? I have included the link with six pics I have uploaded - I hope they are good enough to help you experts out. I havent tried to wind this watch so I dont know if it works or not. It could also stand to be professionally cleaned. :(  This is my first attempt to utilize your site so I apologize if I went about this the wrong way. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer. Jen

Jennifer,

The boxes are from the 1950's 'ACADEMY AWARDS' series - the Watch is a late 20's, early 30's 'MISS AMERICA', 'MISS LIBERTY' or similar etc.

Take a look at the 1928 - 1932 ads.

Thanks for you help! I found the watch in a 1929 ad - it's definately a Miss Liberty but which year I'm not sure. I dont know where to look on the "movement?" for the sign that will help date it. I found an archive pic on this site for a 1931 Miss Liberty with saphires - so it could absolutely be that year too.
