American Standard 1924, Adley Bracelet?

Submitted by musical5 on August 8, 2011 - 10:31pm

I dont normally buy ladies watches, but I saw this at Goodwill, and the condition was amazing. For $8 I grabbed it. It's a 15J. The inside lid says "Bulova 14k gold filled, American Standard, June 1924"   Seems there is serial number 6398342. The database didnt give me anything when I typed in rectangle and 15J. I had to use a loop just to see that it was a Bulova. The bracelet says "Adley" I think. The strange thing is the bracelet would only fit a 3" wrist.

Is there a model name?

Thanks,

Justin

Hi Justin,

Do you have any pictures of the movement, that will help in narrowing down a production year.

From the style my guess is 1924-1926, but that is just a guess.

There should be a 3 digit number/alphabet in the rectangle ID'ing the movement and a single symbol like an asterisk, circle, triangle ect.. indicating a production date.

The bracelet was probably broken with missing links and someone probably just patched it together.

$8.00 is a steal for a watch like this, and there are many members here that can help you restore it if you have a few $$ to part with! ; )

14462 and 5AP

Those are the Identifying numbers I am seeing. The watch is mint cosmetically. It just wont wind :)

Thx

Justin

Movement looks very dirty. Does the balance wheel swing at all if you rock the watch side to side?

It might just need a good clean if the balance staff and hairspring are all good.

I think I see a square which along with the serial number would place it at 1927.

Am I to assume there is no recorded model of this watch? Just curious.

Thanks
