The A9 that is stamped on the movement and caseback dates this watch to 1949, His Excellency JJ is the name of the model (was also named the Treasurer in the early 40's) and it looks like the watch box is original to the watch.

Bulova and other watchmakers would often have these branded dials for large companys to use as presentation watches.

Very nice watch.

Thank you so much!  Thinking of putting it up for sale on ebay...any thoughts?  Original case and box.

Although this ad post Dates the Watch it shows additional examples, further authenticating the Coca-Cola connection.

UH, Excellency? I see the hang tag but not sure I agree, this case doesn't show up after 1946 in ads and, as far as I can tell is always called Treasurer. Is it possible that the watch married the box along the way?

very unlikely...my great uncle was very picky about keeping things in the original boxes...wish there was a way to verify though.  Thinking about selling.

The way Bulova changed names, it could very well be an Excellency, and the Treasurer model is only shown in White Gold in the ads so maybe the Yellow Gold models in the database are named something else??

There are no other 1949 Treasurer's in the database and no His Excellency JJ's named yet. In all of my 40's & 50's crystal books there is no Excellency JJ listed taking a fancy (shaped) crystal, so it probably is one of the 28mm + round crystals listed.

Just thinking outside the box...

OldTicker stated in an earlier post:  was also named the Treasurer in the early 40's

The Watch appears in the 1946 ad of the 'EXCELLENCY GROUP' named the 'TREASURER' all of the individual names were dropped by 1949 and became 'HIS EXCELLENCY' of one sort or another, the display Box matches the production Date of the Watch and the hang tag has the original knot (jk).

It's legit IMO.

All I can say is wow, wow, wow, what a sweet piece of Bulova history you have there. Fifth, Nice ad, a shame it's not in the data base.

Jody, If you plan to sell, contact me as well as I also collect Coca Cola items, so this is a double slam dunk collectable for me.

Shawn,

I thought We had this one??

Dating the ad is an issue, I see the 'ACCUTRON' is shown as new so late 1960, 1961 maybe?

Hmmm, Since Coca Cola has been around longer than most of us dating the ad would be difficult. Bulova launched the Accutron in the early 1960 so it could be anytime from then on. I've compared some of the other cases to the database ads for matches and I'd say this is 1960-61 maybe.

The Treasurer with the bottlecap bezel appears in 1946 ads only. I have a 1946 Treasurer with grey dial & 1947 Treasurer with a gold tone dial (shown below) in the database & it matches the dial style of the 1946 ads. Notice the dial is different on the subject watch. I would support the excellency JJ name tag on the subject watch.  I think the dial is the distinctive feature between the Treasurer & Excellency watches with the bottle cap bezel.
