Some guy gave this to my girlfriend, he said his grandfather wore it during WW2. I don't have a clue how old it is, but all I can say is it is a Bulova, swiss made watch. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I should also note that the back has a 5 digit serial number, no letters or symbols like those listed on the date code section of this site.

Lurg,

You will find the date code stamped on the movement.

We've seen this Watch before and more examples can likely be found in the 'unknown' model section of the Bulova Watch database - a very interesting piece, name unknown to date.

hmm, just did a quick search through the unknown section, but saw no matches. And I dont know exactly how to open a watch without breaking anything, so assuming that the "movement" is inside, I has no way of telling the year of it.

very close, but there are no numbers on mine, the colors are off (grey instead of orange/brown, dark grey instead of white), and the strap is metal, not leather. but very very close. the second hand foreground is a bit different too.

Thanks though, I now know the estimated time. I wanted to know mostly, if it's actually from the WW2 era, or if it was just some fake. :)

No, You're correct the Watch is WWII era and I've seen them referred to as 'Military' but they are not Military issue. To My understanding not all enlisted Men and Women received an issue Watch so they bought their own or were provided one by Family etc.

You should try for a better picture and add it to the database..

So this isn't a military watch, then is it possible it could be years older than most military issued ones?

There is a vintage advertisement in the database showing other Bulova Military themed Watches dated 1943. My guess would be this Watch was initially produced around the same time....1943'ish.

What is the diameter of your watch w/o the crown?
