1930 "Maddie" Update

Submitted by simpletreasures on October 17, 2011 - 7:04pm

Welp, the Maddie arrived today in immaculate shape but non-running. As all Ebay sellers love to state "wound to tight", (love that joke) but the good things are the movement specs match the ad. 6AF movement, 15 jewels, Stephan this is for you!!! Movement serial number 204319, case serial number(and I think this is real important) 111 000 8 just like you see it with spaces! I've never seen one with intentional spaces before, so I looked at my 1928's and 1929's etc and they are all consecutive with no spaces???

Patent June 10, 1924 and only one jewelers mark inside case back.

Original dust cover in place with very little yellowing, and I mean very little. At first I thought it was missing.

Bracelet marked pat. pending "Maxim".

Blue saphire crown.

I'm wondering if this watch is earlier than 1930???

Anybody, anybody?

Photos..Photos MAN!!!

Now thats a cool case serial number.

I'd say it certainly pre-dates 1930, possibly from 1927.

How's the balance staff and hairspring?

Can't do the photos just yet MAN, soon, soon :-0  Hairspring looks good and intact as does the balance staff, with only one jewelers mark inside it could be just gunked up? Crystal is slightly yellowed but not all scared up and very few light scratches (hardly noticeable) on bezel. I honestly don't think this was worn much, dial is super clean!

Admin, I'll get you pics as fast as I can. The watch has only been in my possession for 1 hour, and I was on the job at 4am and got home at 3:30 pm. I'm DUST right now!

Closer look this am. before work was interesting. Even though case is clearly stamped/marked Bulova inside the hinged case back there are absolutely "NO" gold content markings anywhere on this case inside or outside, which I find really ODD! Even more ODD to me is how heavy this watch is compared to my other early Bulova ladies watches?
