So last week I managed to outsnipe the Sniping King on a Bulova, it was hard to tell from the bad photo and discription what kind of condition it was, but I was sure it was a Academy Award "Z"
It arrived yesterday and sure enough it was a "Z" and was in excellent condition other than a ladies leather band had been installed.
I got to looking at my other project watches that I aquired this summer, and noticed one that looked very much alike, it was a L1 with a 21J 10BM movement with a White dial with Gold painted markers & numbers, so I started looking up the crystal that is used for the "Z", and compared it with other AA watches listed, sure enough there was a "S" model that took the same crystal, so I believe this to be a 1951 Academy Award "S" model.
What do all of you pro's think?? Is it a new AA model or am I chasing my tail??
$59.95 seems a little cheap for an Excellency with a metal band, but maybe it originally came with a leather strap? The ad's we have here advertise the price at $71.50 for Excellency's and AA's with a metal band, and as low as $49.50 with a leather strap.
No listings in my GS or BB catalogs for a Excellency series taking a CMY304-10 crystal.
