A new "Do you see what I see?"

Submitted by Daca102090 on October 28, 2011 - 12:36am

Since Jerin had a good catch here is one I am waiting to arrive.

.

In another view I spotted this...

For $10 plus $10 for shipping on a batch of "Steam Punk" stuff I may have gotten lucky with what looks to be a 1926 or earlier conquerer case.  Will be interesting to see what movement pieces are in the box.

Lucky yes, Lone Eagle no! This case was used by quite a few watch manufacturer's, foreign & domestic. My case is an Awonner. Bourg01 restored the case & installed a 10AN & bulova custom dial.

Chances are it will not be a Bulova case...well spotted all the same!!!

My heart would have skipped a beat.

As I posted in the other section, Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

Not a bulova case but close to the same size. The name on the inside is ARISTA and I think LUSTRITE or maybe LUSBRITE.

Whomever the collector was concentrated on cheap stuff.  Oh well, there is always next auction!!

Thats part of the fun when buying these watchmaker lots, most turn out to be nothing but junk but every now and then you can hit the jackpot.

For a 20 spot, you should come out ok, cherry pick it , add some of your unwanted, and put it back up for $9.99...you never know about those "Steampunkers"

My thought exactly.  Actually show what is there a little better and cover my costs.

Like I said there is always the next auction.

I love the case, different wrinkles, very nice case. I'll buy it if you don't like it.

Check it out gents!  This looks like the original ad from a 1928 Sears catalog for your watch here:

Hey Plains. close but no cigar. Although I am really glad you found that ad as I bought this junker a few years back with the intention of always fixing it up. I always wondered what year it was from....now I know.

It's a Vanburen......spelt B.U.L.O.V.A ;-) with a ''AA' grade movement. Quite nice.

Even so, that case polished up and filled with a good Bulova mvnt and a period correct lumed dial, some cathedrall lumed hands and a nice pigskin strap will be a high dollar seller !!! It may not be a Bully but its going to be nice !!!

Mastering 'Pick Up Sticks' as a Child sure helped out with this lot...

looks like 2 sets of Cathedral Hands were hiding in there, amongst a few other goodies.

Too late Bob I already ordered my teeney weenie artist enamelnig brush!

It will fit neatly in my collection. I have a hot Rod movement on hand & branny spankin cat hands!

Looking for a decent dial?

To be passed on to my Son!

Sounds like your 90% of the way there! I'm sure when you finish the watch for your son it will be cherished.

There's an hour hand, about 1/3 of the way from the right on the bottom, with an open triangle at the end.  It looks like one I'm looking for for this watch:
