Having a bit of trouble with this one.

Submitted by Gerard on April 4, 2012 - 4:45pm

I have a 10AK 15 Jew Movement Marked with a A9, the inside of the case back says: Bulova 10Kt Rolled Gold bezel, SS Back,New York. On the case back it says Bulova A9 and #1286111.

The band is a champion SS Back not sure if original. I'm confused with A9 . I need the Bulova Gods on this one.

"Director"... the ugly one imo.  I think I originally said Ambassador... naw.. Director.

1950 Ad.  I'd say you have a 1950 Director with a left over '49 movement.

It has A9 on the case and movement, so 1949 without question.  A9 should be on the chart of date codes for 1949, as it is seen often enough.  I believe I have six examples of it in my collection.

EDIT:  Actually, I have seven examples of "A9" in my collection.

A9 on my date chart reads 2009 thus my confusion. I also received a 10AK marked X with it but thats a 43 movement right?

You are correct that A9 was also used for 2009, and a 10AK marked with an "X" would indicate 1943.

So the A9 is correct and its a 49.

Yes, and A9 should be added to the date code chart for 1949.
