Bulova Collection Websites and mybulova.com

Submitted by William Smith on May 2, 2012 - 8:17pm

I'm very proud, if you will, of all the work and efforts members of mybulvoa.com put into this website, it's goals, and the resultant body of Bulova information to which this site contributes.  Many old "facts" and ideas have been supplanted with new.  Look around the various watch discussion forums, collectors websites, and few websites which deal with Bulova horology, and you'll be hard-pressed to see a website where Bulova model ID'ing and history isn't being rewritten with the help of MyBulova.com and it's members.  Many mybulova members also have their own websites and collections documented with model ID's hashed out here- and backed up with the best facts and accepted tools at hand- crystal specification assisted ID's, NOS watch examples with hang tags and known providence, and the many vintage ads this site makes available to the world of Bulova collecting.

Please check out some of our members websites listed here to see for yourselves:

I did note, however, that one Bulvoa collectors website was not in this list - yet - and I'll let the CollectorsWeekly.com finish the introduction for me with an article on one of the recent inductees to their Collectors Hall of Fame

Kudos to NOVA and her new site.  What an excellent and well documented collection of Bulova watches!!!  And like many other members sites, she credits much of the model ID'ing research to ads found on mybulova.com.   Admin must be proud that in the last six years mybulova.com has indeed grown to be the premiere website for vintage Bulova model ID'ing and has the largest collection of vintage Bulova ads in the world.

Super big DITTO's. Well put William. Nova's site is just unbelievable and helped me identify 3 more watches I had forgotten about. In my short 6 months of teaching myself how to do repairs and collecting watches and movements I can honestly say that mybulova and its fantastic members have made me what I am (what ever that is) today and I will continue to support the site and its members to my best ability.

Thanks, guys, for the kind words and, Will, for the introduction.  Documenting my collection for my Web site was a big undertaking which did, indeed, take many hours--months actually, working on it pretty much fulltime (and I'm not done yet).  But I learned so much in the process, it was worth every minute.  I went through all my watches in detail and examined them in a way that I hadn't before or hadn't in a long time.  In the process, I discovered some models that I didn't even know I had, because I had them mislabled.  I encourage everyone to take that kind of time with your watches, studying them using the fantastic teaching tools here on myBulova.

Of course, the detailed documentation also helps with some practical issues, like insurance, and its an easy way to make this rather odd hobby more accessible to friends and family, who might want a better understanding of why we spend so much time (and money) "playing with watches".  My family is utterly fascinated by the Web site, so that's been a lot of fun too.

I hope it turns out to be a useful companion site to myBulova, as are the sites by Bob, Plains, and others.  It certainly would not have been possible for me to document my collection the way I have without the ads, watch database, and crystal information made available here on myBulova, and I am tremendously grateful for those resources.

Kuddoes Nova, You've done a fantastic job. I wish I had the time to do the same thing with my collection though mine is an aweful lot smaller. I'd say you've done a fine job.

...and now mybulova admin has modified the search feature so we can view all watches in the database - both knowns and unknowns- while searching by year etc.... This is great for side by side comparison, and one of the features which Lisa's site allows.  Great way to see those unknowns next to the ID'ed models.  Good work Lisa and Stephen!
