I saw this the other day while searching for Lone Eagles. In the description the seller said the case had a patten number dated to 1924. So I send him an email asking how could it be 24 when the flight didn't happen untill 27? He tells me that this is one of the original 5000 watches issued. After the the first issue the cases had a patten date of 1927. What do you think boys? http://www.rubylane.com/item/384376-3811/First-Release-Bulova-Lindbergh-Lone
Hinged Yellow Gold Case measures 36mm lug to lug x 25.5mm wide non inclusive of the Crown using Calipers. Original Butler finish Dial shows Radium Arabic numerals, Bulova signature is applied Gilt and tracks are printed Black. Hour and Minute Hands are 'Cathedral style' and a Modern style Seconds Hand appears on a sub Dial partially obscuring the 6. A dust shield and Gold retaining ring appears over the Movement. Movement block is Gold. Crown is original. Caseback is stamped as shown. * Year of manufacture based on Case seriel number.
1951 8AC 17j movement. Crystal curves both ways slightly and measures 21.1mm x 18.6mm.
Here is the Calhoun model. Untouched and unrestored, just received. Working fine.
This has a rare 21 jewel 10ae movement. Most 10ae I have seen have been 15/17j I think.
I will update with better pictures in the future but just wanted to get this out there as there is not another on here.
I inherited a beautiful La Petite watch from my grandmother. It was given to me in its original box and in amazing condition. I cannot find any markings on the back of the watch to help me identify it, other than the La Petite 23 Jewels that is listed on the box. Can anyone help me identify it? I am afraid of encountering a jewelry butcher when I have it opened and identified...so I'm hoping someone could give me some information. I will try to update with some better photos.
I inherited a beautiful La Petite watch from my grandmother. It was given to me in its original box and in amazing condition. I cannot find any markings on the back of the watch case besides the serial to help me identify it, other than the La Petite 23 Jewels that is listed on the box, as well as the number 23 on the face. Inside, there are numbers etched into the back of the cover. The movement has several identifying codes, but I am not sure what they all mean. "L5" translates into 1955. However, I have not figured out which is the movement model and movement serial. There is "5AD" and "6ADJ".
I absolutely love this watch and am so happy to have it.
Purchased this out of interest, looked unusual and an easy project but cant find in the database. Back is SS, any ideas?
