JUST PURCHASED TO ADD TO MY NEW COLLECTION OF BULOVA WATCHES, I AM TRYING TO DETERMIN IF ITS A 153 OR 154
If I'm not mistaken, right below the shield the script says whatever warranty in years the case has, and this was eventually made unlawful. It had something to do with the Trade Commission deciding that the jargon was misleading. I think this was partly because higher karat counts negated the filling effect by being softer and therefore lasting less time before brassing through. Still, these cases are superior to the electroplated cases of today. Another story I heard was that several manufacturers had gotten stung when customers came back to demand their watch cases be replaced under warranty. This may explain why both the 'warranty' and 'K' has been removed, or maybe it didn't test out to the right percentage? They may have been mis-stamped at the factory for one reason or another.
I'm good with 155.

The movt would originally have had a ring, and this had a tube that passed through thecase and protected the stem. The assembly would have made for a tighter fit. If you have a local chapter of the NAWCC in your area, I would heartily recommend joining their rainks and attending monthly 'marts' and you may find a similar old watch with its ring complete to act as a donor for this one.
Beware, though, youmay find yourself coming home with a few extra watches!
