Looks similar to 1925/26 Princine, 1926 Ramona, and 1927 Suzanne, but case shape is a little different. I have it running now, but misplaced the crystal. Band is Gold Filled with blue stones. Case is solid 14K White Gold. Movement has the blus stone winding crown. Any ideas as to Year and Name ?? Original dial, just cleaned.
Thanks Ken S
Edit Alex: case serial updated in line with picture
The movement actually has 15 jewels and not 17 as indicated in the listing. I'll update this now. This changes the equation as it cannot be a 6724 as the model number has a '7' in it indicating 17 jewels. If anything it would be a 6524, but I'm more inclined to called it the Beverly or Lenore.
I agree with your logic that the second digit must be an indication of the jewel count (although Bulova is not consistent, they have models with second digit being an 8 while still a 17 jewel movement!). But to call it 6524, we simply have no evidence that it was ever called like this. I also hesitate to call it Beverly or Lenore. The watch is obviously from 1924, but the names Beverly and Lenore have yet to be invented by Bulova since they were created in 1925. The closest evidence we have of a 14kt gold case is below snippet. In order to avoid having such a beautiful watch as "-Unknown", I ask for leniency and go for 6724 based on below snippet.
When it had 17 jewels, it matched the 6724 (two ticks tentative). I see the Lenore (C658) and Beverly are both 15 jewel ads, but the Beverly ad dates to Dec 1925.
The Lenore ad is "probably from 1923"??? I'll check if I can find a more definite date for Lenore ad.
Lenore model name and what was probably used earlier- the C658- were likely both the "model names" in this transition ad/time.
My choices- if Lenore ad is from 1923 or 1924, then I'm good with Lenore.
-if Lenore ad is from 1925, I'd say this model was called the C658 in 1924>
Possible 1923 ad below. Let's figure out the actual date of this ad.
In reply to Hi Will, this ad of Lenore is by Alex
In reply to From the 1920-30's decades by William Smith
The Lenore posted by Will is a snippet from the ad of 1927 as published on this site. It contains watches like the Empress, Roberta and Luella among others that were introduced in 1927, hence not from 1923.
