So if the subject case...the case serial number dated 1929 (Envoy) case, was the exact same case used in the Diplomat in 1925/6- the only difference being date of case production... is subject watch non-conforming? A c1925 diplomat dial/movement in a 1929 Envoy case?  Even if the cases are identical w/ exception of how they were advertised in production years... I say it's becoming a non-conforming record IMO.

The Watch is originally advertised as the 'DIPLOMAT' ca 1925 as shown in the ad Wayne displays. In 1926 the 'DIPLOMAT' becomes the 'AMBASSADOR'. In 1929 the 'AMBASSADOR' Case design changes, its former design becoming the 'ENVOY'.

The subject looks like the 'DIPLOMAT' but the Case serial number entered says it is the 'ENVOY' and could be entered in the database as either/or, but non-conforming.

The subject case looks like the 1925 Diplomat, but is actually a 1929 Envoy case.  The subject dial looks like dial of the 1925 Diplomat, w/o the sub seconds seen in the 1929 Envoy.  Are you saying the complete watch could be entered in the database as either a 1925 non-conforming    or  a 1929 non-conforming?  And which would we chose?

As with any Watch entering the database set presidence uses the latter of the 2 Dates.

In this instance the Watch could be entered with a subcategory reference to 'non conforming' along with the Model Name. This method would  give an identifiable Watch an ID but let future viewers know it's not quite right.

ie:

1925 'DIPLOMAT' - non conforming.

or

1929 'ENVOY' - non conforming.

Not My call.

Based on the case serial # this has to be a '29 and since it doesn't conform to the ads then it has to be Non-Conforming. I'd rather call it a '29 Envoy - Non-Conforming, but we don't have that option.

Darren,

It was Your thought that originally sparked the idea, and it's a very good one.
